Kevin Aisthorpe

I moved to Malta in 2008 having achieved 20 years of experience working within the Health and Fitness Industry. It all began back in 1989 while living in Australia. I started out as an Aerobic, Circuit and Step Reebok instructor.  I then branched out into gym instructing as well as personal training.

On my return to England from Australia in 1994, I continued working as a health consultant and personal trainer but I wanted more. Firstly I became the Club Manager of a Health Club in Lincoln before moving to Nottingham to be the Fitness / Personal Training Manager in a newly built city centre health club that had at any given time in excess of 6,500 members.

My goal and desire was always to become a teacher/trainer and to pass on my knowledge and experience of the industry to others. In view of this, come 2001, I moved to Premier Training International. Premier is one of the UK’s leading providers of full and part time vocational health and fitness courses. I was appointed as Centre Manager as well as the trainer/tutor who delivered the Level 2 gym instructor and Level 3 personal trainer courses. Another of my responsibilities in this role was to assist with the delivery of the sports massage course.  I was primarily based at Premier’s Nottingham venue but occasionally asked to travel to other Premier venues in order to help out with training. It was back in 2004 while working with Premier that I became associated with Active IQ which then replaced VTCT as the awarding body for all Premier courses.

Following my association with Active IQ and the proven success of these courses in the UK, I was appointed as a lecturer/trainer with Biocare Academy Malta in March 2012 to start delivering these courses in Malta. Biocare Academy Malta has since run the first of its courses successfully for Level 2 and is looking to commence further courses including Level 3 courses for Personal Trainers.

On a different note, I consider myself to be a positive, pro-active and very self-motivated individual. I also take pride and satisfaction in my ability to motivate others as well as helping them reach their goals. I studied Management at Adelaide University (Australia) and Teaching at Nottingham Trent University. Throughout my time in management, I continued taking studio cycling, body pump and group circuit classes (I love the buzz you get!). In my own time I still like to exercise regularly and I am also interested in modern and ancient history. I like to find time to read with my preferences being well researched historic adventure novels.
